Madam Paheli,

Thanks for visiting & commenting here. I have no aversion towards words like kabaat etc. One could use these words in verbal & informal communication vis-a-vis trying to avoid them. All that I objected to was the fact that it would be a disservice to the language if you used such slang & second hand words in literary work. It was the fact that Inqilaab was an Urdu newspaper using such words indiscriminately, that irritated me. I am a customer of Inqilaab & thus have every right to demand good quality. I consider web-logs to be a consumer forum in that respect.

If you don't have an Urdu blog, or would like to comment in Urdu, you will find many good bloggers around ready to help you start writing in Urdu.

Dear Urdudaan,

I think you should write them a letter. Tell them that you and many other Urdulovers find such phrases to be not only irritating but also abusive; like Urdu has no words for Kabbat and cubic. Give them a link to your post and show them that we share this feeling with you.
